I chose this topic because I wanted to learn more about 9/11 and look into the perspectives of those who were affected by this event. I also wanted to learn more about the Patriot act and the affect it had on the U.S citizens. For my perspective projects I created a monologue for English, a blog post for Civics and a drawing of the towers for Art.
English monologue:
I stare out feeling the cool breeze as I hear the birds chirping in the sky above me. I look at the memorial in front of me and see the names of those whose lives were taken, some I knew as my friends. For just a moment I close my eyes and I am tormented by their screams of fear, screams of agony. Some are being trampled as panic arose and the need to survive became the only priority. I remember not looking back. The truth is that I didn't want to. I only wanted to get out. I only wanted to be safe. But now shame fills my heart. I did not try to help anyone. I was screaming for help instead. “Hero” has a new meaning to me. How does someone go into a burning building not concerned with his own life? How do you place more value on a stranger’s life than your own?
As I refocus on the memorial and see countless names on it, I’m overwhelmed with emotions. Emotions such as torment, shame, guilt, but now gratefulness overcomes me and I can’t help but cry. Who do I thank for my life? But most of all, who gave their life for me? Why was I so lucky? As I open my eyes I realize I am not alone in this torment. All around me there are people crying either for their lost loved one or the ones like me, grateful to be alive.
Do our enemies not understand that although we may fight or kill each other over pride or just plain racism, an act of terrorism UNITE US. That dreadful day we were ALL the same color!
Even if it was because of the smoke.

Perspective in my projects:
For English I used perspective in my project by looking into the perspective of a survivor of the 9/11 attack on twin towers. I did this by writing a monologue about the survivors feelings and emotions in their point of view. For Art I drew a drawing the twin towers and drew one of the towers hit with an airplane. I used perspective in this project by drawing the towers in the perspective of someone watching them fall from afar. For Civics I used perspective in my project by diving into the perspective of a U.S citizen getting affected by the aftermath of 9/11 such as the Patriot act and security. I did this by making a blog post talking about the Patriot act and how Americans dealt with this new sense of security and lack of privacy.
